This is a typical dish from the province of Bahia located in the northeast of Brazil. Its origin probably comes from Africa and it was transferred to the country through slaves, it is related to religious traditions of that continent. It is a thick bread, made from beans and onion, stuffed with prawns and shrimp, and served in a regional sauce, all fried. This dish is eaten at any time of the day in all regions of the country.
Ingredients
- ½ kilogram of Peas
- 1 onion
- ½ cup of water
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 pinch of Pepper
- Oil
Preparation
- Leave the peas in the water overnight until they soften, then wash and drain them, proceed to clean them by rubbing them.
- Puree the peas in a blender, adding water little by little until it is a paste, then add salt, pepper.
- Put the oil in a frying pan and heat it, once hot fry until the pasta is golden brown, dry the excess oil and serve with arcajé sauce.
